Sunderland hit hard as goalkeeper-Craig Gordon- breaks arm

Sunderland and Scotland goalkeeper Craig Gordon will miss the start of the new season after breaking an arm.
Gordon fractured a bone after falling awkwardly in training and had surgery on Thursday to repair the damage. The 27-year-old, who suffered a similar injury last season, is set to miss the beginning of Scotland's Euro 2012 qualifying campaign.
"He is set to miss the start of the season as he undergoes rehab on the damaged arm," read a club statement.
Gordon joined Sunderland from Hearts in August 2007 in a deal rising to £9m - a British record fee for a goalkeeper - and made 31 appearances last season in another campaign disrupted by injury.

He suffered a broken arm in November after being caught by what he described as a "poor challenge" from Tottenham striker Jermain Defoe.
